Drone voice navigation made possible with what3words and DXC Technology

DXC Technology built an Alexa-powered voice interface to let operators control drones, but ran into a key challenge: telling a drone to go to a specific spot. Street addresses lack the precision needed for deliveries or firefighting, while GPS coordinates are hard to speak and easy to mix up, limiting voice-driven navigation.

DXC solved this by integrating what3words so operators can speak memorable 3-word addresses (3 m x 3 m squares) to send drones to exact locations — e.g., "go to ///public.warns.artist." The integration improved voice recognition accuracy and eliminated manual coordinate entry, enabling precise, reliable use cases from firefighting and security patrols to delivery landing pads.
