3 words to secure land tenure with Camidus

Camidus, founded by Serge Poueme, builds land‑tenure software to help municipalities and governments secure property rights in places where up to 70% of land is unregistered. Many countries lack standardised addressing and transcribing GPS coordinates is error‑prone, so identifying and registering parcels reliably has been a major barrier to development and inclusion.

To solve this, Camidus integrated what3words into its CALAR platform so each parcel gets a fixed, easy‑to‑say 3‑word address that works offline and in multiple languages. This provides a simple, precise unique identifier and navigable address for mobile capture and online registration, helping governments register land for the first time, improve tenure administration, and scale projects across Africa—recognised by awards like Total Startupper of the Year and the LOJIQ Prize.
