3 words to keep you safe at Super Bowl 50 with Intterra

Intterra, a geospatial technology company specializing in public safety and emergency situational awareness, was tasked with coordinating more than 100 NFL and corporate events during Super Bowl 50 week in the Bay Area, when roughly 1.1 million visitors attended events across San Francisco. A core challenge was communicating precise locations in complex, crowded and built‑up environments—street addresses were often inadequate and long GPS coordinates were error‑prone over radio and in the field.

Intterra integrated what3words into its SITUATIONANALYST platform so responders could reference exact 3m x 3m locations using simple three‑word addresses visible on mobile, tablet or laptop. The integration improved radio clarity and real‑time mapping and geoanalytics, enabling faster, more accurate incident reporting and resource allocation and strengthening coordination among fire, law enforcement and other public‑safety agencies during the event.
