University of Maryland Medical Center marks 200th anniversary with What Works Studio’s drone show

The University of Maryland Medical Center (UMMC) sought a memorable way to celebrate its 200th anniversary and honor the city of Baltimore. To meet this challenge, they partnered with What Works Studio to create a large-scale drone show that would serve as a centerpiece for the city's Artscape festival.

What Works Studio conceptualized and directed "A Love Letter to Baltimore," a creative drone spectacle featuring iconic local imagery, including Mr. Trash Wheel. The vendor managed the entire production, from creative development and securing a drone show partner to coordinating the launch. The result was a highly visible main-stage event at Artscape 2023 that drew a large live audience, garnered significant media attention, and provided an unforgettable tribute to UMMC's two centuries of service.
