Hammer Construction, an Oklahoma City–based contractor serving the oil and gas industry across Oklahoma and Texas, faced persistent fuel theft and a lack of visibility into purchases across a widely dispersed fleet of dozers, trucks, excavators and graders. To address recurring losses of roughly $500–$700 per month and improve controls for vehicles and employees that are often offsite for weeks, Hammer turned to WEX, implementing WEXOnline and WEX ClearView.

WEX deployed its payment platforms and the ClearView analytics dashboard to monitor 225 fleet cards, surface exceptions in real time, and let managers drill down by region, vehicle, station or employee. WEX ClearView gave Hammer immediate, actionable data that helped bring down fraud, change driver behavior, and identify operational improvements, enabling quicker trend detection and tighter control over fleet expenses.
