Sawatch Labs helps Denver Water reduce fleet emissions

Denver Water, Colorado’s oldest and largest water utility serving 1.5 million people, needed to identify which of its 490 on‑road vehicles could be electrified to cut fleet emissions. Working with Xcel Energy’s FEAP program and Sawatch Labs, WEX supported the effort using Sawatch Labs’ EV software suite (ezEV, ezIO, EMIT) to analyze telematics and operational data and prioritize electrification candidates.

WEX’s analysis used 14 months of minute‑by‑minute vehicle data to model daily energy use, charging needs, and total cost of ownership; ezEV, ezIO, and EMIT identified 63 suitable vehicles (61 BEVs, 2 PHEVs). The study projects $360,000 in fleet TCO savings and 1,000 tons of lifetime GHG reductions, informed charger siting and demand, and has already guided purchases (seven Ford F‑150 Lightning delivered, four Chevy Blazer EVs ordered) and installation of four dual‑port and one single‑port Level 2 chargers.
