Case Study: Bose achieves hands-free audio navigation with WestLink's custom Bose Frames integration

A WestLink Case Study

Preview of the Bose Case Study

Bose launches IoT audio navigation with WestLink as one of 10 early partners

Bose, a leader in high-performance audio products, faced a challenge when launching its innovative Bose Frames smart sunglasses. As a new product, there was no public software development kit available to support integrations. Bose partnered with vendor WestLink to create a seamless, hands-free navigation experience for the Frames and to deliver a polished product for a public launch at South by Southwest.

WestLink developed a custom algorithm to manually decode real-time Bluetooth signals from the Bose Frames, creating a first-of-its-kind mobile app called WALC. This solution delivered landmark-based audio navigation cues directly through the glasses. The successful integration was demoed at SXSW, providing users with hands-free navigation and positioning Bose Frames as an innovator in the audio AR space.
