Oakhurst Dairy - Customer Case Study

Oakhurst Dairy, Maine’s oldest milk producer, faced an anticipated doubling of storage demand and the need to add a new 10‑oz bottle line without building a new facility. To address truck wait times, limited cooler space and other logistics bottlenecks, Oakhurst engaged Westfalia Tech. Inc., which provided Savanna.NET® WMS and a custom Convertible Bottle Caser to support the expansion.

Westfalia Tech. Inc. integrated Savanna.NET® with a high‑speed, energy‑free gravity caser and upgraded filling and storage infrastructure (including a five‑story cooler, two raw milk receiving bays and capacity for up to three days of finished product). The deployment—live by July 2005—included pick‑to‑light, handhelds and FIFO control, enabled 10‑oz packing at 180 bottles/min (quart at 120/min), and eliminated many prior bottlenecks so Oakhurst Dairy could absorb growth and improve order fulfillment within its existing plant.
