A Wendel Case Study
The Village of Lancaster, NY faced the challenge of revitalizing a long-vacant central business district that had failed to recover from a fire decades prior. The village wanted to transform the area into a vibrant, mixed-use destination for its residents and visitors. They engaged Wendel and utilized its Immersion™ process to begin addressing this challenge.
Wendel reestablished the historic street grid, enabling new economic development through creative design solutions that led to significant cost savings. The completed first phase of the Lancaster Village Center includes 9,000 square feet of commercial space and 18 apartments, housing six new businesses. This has generated a retail waiting list in an otherwise low-demand area and increased local property values. A second phase is under construction.
