City of Beacon Fire Department builds a 100% electric fire station with Wendel

The City of Beacon Fire Department sought to consolidate its operations from three outdated stations into a single, modern facility. Wendel's Mitchell Associates Architects conducted multiple studies to determine the most viable solution, ultimately recommending renovations and additions to a centrally located station.

Wendel designed and delivered a 100% electric, carbon-free fire station for the City of Beacon. The solution utilized a ground-source heat pump system, which maximized energy efficiency, reduced operating costs, and eliminated the need for fossil fuels. The building also features R-values well above code requirements and high-efficiency heat recovery ventilation, setting a new standard for sustainable public safety buildings.
