Intuit - Customer Case Study

Intuit engaged Welocalize to accelerate its globalization strategy and meet a tight launch deadline: move from supporting one non-English language to 11 additional languages in under four months while lowering translation costs by 30%. Intuit’s small localization team had limited bilingual assets but used Simplified Technical English (STE), making the content well suited for a machine translation (MT) approach.

Welocalize built and deployed a full MT program, customizing Microsoft Translator engines via its Translator Hub, integrating MT into Intuit’s SDL Idiom WorldServer workflows, and instituting rigorous post-editing, continuous engine retraining with TAUS in-domain data, and customized training for teams. As a result, Welocalize delivered UI and technical content in 11 languages within three months, achieved the targeted 30% reduction in translation costs, improved time-to-market and scalability, and maintained high quality through ongoing post-editing and evaluation.
