Borislow Insurance, a New England employee benefits firm, wanted to model workplace wellness for its own staff and to support clients but found their volunteer-driven efforts unsustainable. After evaluating vendors, Borislow selected WellSteps to provide a turnkey wellness solution—using WellSteps’ Personal Health Assessment, campaign-based programs and later the myWellRewards tracking tool—to reduce administrative burden and build a sustainable, family-inclusive wellness model.

WellSteps implemented a 90-day launch and marketing plan, guided Culture Change Consulting™, helped form a wellness committee, and delivered 10 targeted campaigns (e.g., “Culprit and the Cure,” “Move It!,” “Food Makeover,” “Good Night,” “Random Acts of Kindness”). Over a year BI reported measurable gains: average exercise rose from 110.17 to 193.93 minutes/week, restful sleep increased from 3.13 to 4.5 nights/week (a 25% rise in employees getting 6–7 nights), fruit intake rose, alcohol use fell (2.91 to 1.86 drinks/day), stress and loneliness declined, and cholesterol and blood-glucose ratings improved. WellSteps’ support also coincided with three employees quitting smoking, a staff team completing the Tufts 10K, and Borislow winning WELCOA’s Well Workplace small-business award in 2009.
