Royal Free Hospital reduces surface MRSA by 97% with WellAir

The Royal Free Hospital sought to reduce environmental microbial load, specifically MRSA, in its general ward environment. To address this challenge, the hospital deployed the Novaerus Protect 800/900 air decontamination devices from vendor WellAir.

The solution involved placing WellAir's Novaerus units powered by NanoStrike technology in patient bays and rooms. The results showed a 97% reduction in environmental surface MRSA. Additionally, surface total viable counts were 49% lower, and the odds of airborne MRSA occurrence were reduced to a quarter of the control. WellAir's technology was found to be effective and was considered acceptable and easy to use by the hospital's ward staff.
