Northwell Health reduces airborne bacterial bioburden by 57.5% with WellAir

Northwell Health sought to evaluate the effectiveness of an air cleaning solution in a hospital staff breakroom to reduce airborne bacterial bioburden. The vendor, WellAir, provided its Defend 1050 portable air cleaning system for this assessment.

WellAir implemented its FDA-cleared Defend 1050 device, which uses NanoStrike technology to inactivate viruses, bacteria, and fungi. The results showed a 57.5% overall reduction in airborne bacterial colony counts and a 63% reduction in specific pathogen and opportunistic pathogen counts, demonstrating a substantial decrease in airborne bioburden for the customer.
