Acceleron Pharma, a publicly traded Cambridge-based biotechnology company, needed a sustainable, engaging employee wellness program that could evolve with changing workforce needs. In 2015 Acceleron partnered with Wellable to introduce onsite fitness classes and to leverage the Wellable platform for challenges, seminars, virtual events and other wellness resources.

Wellable implemented a phased program—starting with one weekly on-site class and expanding to multiple classes per week—while adding wellness challenges, webinars, team virtual events and company-wide Fitbit distribution, and using its platform to promote and track participation. The Wellable partnership produced measurable growth in engagement and activity (class frequency increased from 1 to 3–4 weekly classes, company-wide Fitbit rollout, and participation in Wellable’s Biotech Challenge among ~50 companies), strengthening culture and employee well-being.
