Dead & Company partnered with Weka to support its Dead Forever residency at Sphere, where the band needed to manage a massive 1.5PB dataset and render extremely large 3D video files for an immersive concert experience. The production team also had to preserve the improvisational nature of the shows, which meant handling huge amounts of media without fixed time codes or a rigid playback schedule.

Weka provided its WEKApod appliance running NeuralMesh to power the pre-production workflow, centralize the data pipeline, and deliver high-performance storage and networking at scale. With Weka, Dead & Company could render and encode in minutes instead of hours, manage about 90TB of data per show, and move content across a 100Gb network at line rate, helping deliver a wildly immersive experience to more than 20,000 fans each night.
