A Weirdly Case Study
Buddle Findlay, one of New Zealand’s leading law firms, needed a better way to attract and assess top grad talent in an extremely competitive market while showing the firm’s culture and reducing hiring bias. To do this they partnered with Weirdly, using Weirdly’s values-based quiz and application-management platform to look beyond CVs and GPA and give candidates a more engaging, culturally revealing experience.
Weirdly automated communications, filtered candidates by values alignment for longlisting, and gave Buddle Findlay visibility over diversity at each stage. The results: despite 35% fewer applicants than 2021, offers rose from 25 to 39 (▲56%), 18 grads were hired and 91 high‑potential candidates were identified for future roles, candidate NPS reached 8.7 (▲1.7, goal 7), and cohort diversity was 19% Māori and 78% women; hiring managers also reported Weirdly’s data helped reduce bias and improve selection.
