Stanwood-Camano School District protects 4,600 students with Weir-Jones Engineering

The Stanwood-Camano School District, located in a seismically active region of Washington, faced a significant risk to the safety of its 4,600 students and staff from earthquakes. To address this challenge, the district partnered with Weir-Jones Engineering and a ShakeAlert® Licensed Operator to implement the ShakeAlert® Earthquake Early Warning system.

Weir-Jones Engineering implemented the USGS-operated ShakeAlert® system, which uses a network of sensors to detect earthquakes and deliver automated alerts. The solution integrated with the district's public address system across all 13 buildings to provide immediate audio instructions for protective action. This significantly improved the district's preparedness and ability to respond effectively to seismic events, enhancing the safety of all occupants.
