Decathlon Manages More Than 2 Million Assets With Wedia

Decathlon, the global sporting goods retailer with ~1,500 stores and 88,000 employees in 52 countries, faced limits with its decade-old multimedia library while following a strict "12 visuals" guideline for each product. The company needed a platform to centralize photos, videos and 360° media, integrate with ERP, PIM and thirty CMS-driven sites, handle exponential content growth, provide strong indexing/search and rights management to avoid duplicated assets. Wedia was engaged to deliver a Digital Asset and Content Management solution — the PixL media library — to meet these requirements.

Wedia implemented PixL as a single source of truth feeding Decathlon’s thirty sites and used by over 20,000 internal and external users worldwide. The system now ingests about 2,000 assets per day, diffuses millions of images every month and manages some 2 million asset variations, with CDN and cloud video support for fast publication and AI-assisted image description to improve metadata. As a result, Wedia helped homogenize publishing across CMS platforms, simplify diffusion, improve performance and reduce duplication across channels.
