A WebMD Health Services Case Study

Preview of the Mercury Insurance Case Study

Supporting Well-Being at The Local Level

Mercury Insurance, one of the nation’s largest auto insurers with nearly 5,000 employees across 40+ locations, faced low engagement from a traditional wellness program centered on biometric screenings and limited follow-up. To boost local participation and connect employees to corporate goals, Mercury partnered with WebMD Health Services to reimagine its approach through the My Health at Mercury wellness program.

WebMD Health Services replaced screenings with a preventative-care–focused, self-reported program that created Well‑Being Ambassadors, extended participation to spouses, and emphasized trust and local engagement. The new program drove a 12% rise in employee participation over two years, delivered a 0% increase in healthcare costs in 2016 (the first time in a decade), and correlated with a 5.8% increase in employee engagement — a potential revenue impact of nearly $4 million.
