Case Study: SummaCare achieves improved employee health and stronger workplace culture with WebMD Health Services' The Invitational

SummaCare - Customer Case Study

SummaCare partnered with WebMD Health Services to address employee well‑being and strengthen workplace culture across its multi‑facility organization by running The Invitational Team Steps Challenge. The program aimed to increase regular physical activity and team accountability, and it also provided timely motivation for individuals recovering from serious health events—most notably Mary Jo, who joined after a heart attack.

WebMD Health Services delivered The Invitational as part of its wellness challenges and supporting tools (e.g., WebMD Health Manager, messaging and reporting), engaging 52 teams at SummaCare; participants averaged about 10,434 steps per day (nearly five miles) and one participant, Mary Jo, lost 15 pounds and made lasting lifestyle changes. WebMD Health Services’ challenge strengthened camaraderie and culture at SummaCare and contributed to strong engagement metrics—part of broader results showing tens of thousands of users and millions of challenge interactions across WebMD Health Services’ programs.
