How Encompass Health connects and engages employees with one app

Encompass Health, a national post-acute care provider with over 38,500 employees across 130 hospitals and 278 home health and hospice locations, faced a critical communications challenge: reaching and engaging a largely deskless, mobile-savvy workforce, measuring communication effectiveness, and connecting employees across dispersed sites. To tackle this, Encompass Health partnered with WebMD Health Services and deployed the Hive employee mobile app as a central channel for company and location-specific communications and employee self-service.

WebMD Health Services implemented the Hive app with features like an aggregated newsfeed, localized channels, a resource library, My Benefits (PeopleSoft integration), My Paycheck, and My Wellness tools, enabling secure access to benefits, pay information, and wellbeing tracking. As a result, Encompass Health immediately improved reach and engagement with clinicians via smartphones, reduced HR support inquiries, increased employee connectivity and productivity, and earned recognition for its digital communications—demonstrating measurable improvements in information access and time spent on administrative tasks.
