Case Study: EMI Health launches a personalized, higher‑engagement well‑being program with WebMD Health Services' WebMD ONE

A WebMD Health Services Case Study

Preview of the EMI Health Case Study

How EMI Health uses a person-first experience, targeted communications and unique wellness challenges to enhance their well-being program

EMI Health, a full‑service health insurance organization covering more than 300,000 people across nine states (about 47,000 eligible for well-being benefits), found its existing program lacked identity and options as it moved into the self‑funded space. To raise the priority of well‑being for members and employer groups, EMI Health partnered with WebMD Health Services and adopted the WebMD ONE platform to create a branded experience called BE WELL.

WebMD Health Services delivered a three‑pronged solution: transitioning EMI Health to WebMD ONE/BE WELL (launched January 2021), providing a dedicated communications team and program manager to boost awareness and segmentation, and integrating EMI’s long‑running hiking challenge into the platform to improve engagement and incentives. Early momentum is strong and the partnership set measurable targets—35–40% health assessment completion, reducing claims for 15–20% of participants, expanding incentive offerings, better data integration, and enhanced disease‑management and segmentation—while improving tracking and scalability of wellness initiatives.
