Building a Holistic Wellness Program From the Ground Up

The City of Aurora, a rapidly growing and culturally diverse municipality east of Denver, needed a wellness program that could serve a wide range of employees—from first responders to remote and non‑desk workers. Since 2021 the City has partnered with WebMD Health Services to build a holistic program using WebMD ONE (the Win With Wellness portal), WebMD Health Coaching, the WAYS mobile app and other WebMD-supported services to address five domains of well‑being.

WebMD Health Services helped implement a multi‑channel solution—combining incentives (200 points earns a $200 Visa), digital tools (Total Brain and mental‑health apps), health coaching, manager training, an active Wellness Committee, and targeted communications—to boost engagement and support mental and physical health. The results are measurable: in a recent survey 3 in 4 employees said the Wellness Program had a positive impact, 87% were satisfied, and 90% reported the program is a valuable benefit, demonstrating clear gains in employee well‑being and satisfaction.
