WGM Engineering Group, one of Scotland’s leading mechanical, electrical and civil engineering firms with around 180 staff and a 90-van fleet, needed a reliable telematics solution after poor, inaccurate data from its previous provider. The business required accurate monitoring of arrival times, fuel consumption, carbon footprint and driver behaviour and a system flexible enough to support growth, so WGM selected Webfleet, deploying the WEBFLEET platform with LINK and EcoPlus and using the OptiDrive driver‑monitoring feature.

Webfleet’s solution delivered real-time planning, detailed KPI analytics and Fleetcheck integration, rapidly changing driver behaviour and improving operational efficiency: idling fell from 11 to 8 minutes/day, average OptiDrive scores rose from 6.1 to 6.7, speeding incidents dropped from 1% to 0.1% of driving time, and fuel economy improved from 33.8 mpg to 36 mpg—resulting in a 22% fuel cost saving. The platform also increased transparency for customers, streamlined planning and was supported by strong reseller assistance during implementation.
