A Webfleet Case Study
South West Coaches, a family-run bus and coach operator with a 112-vehicle fleet based in Somerset, needed to cut rising fuel costs (an annual fuel bill of about £1m), reduce idling, improve tracking and safety, and choose a system that would pay for itself. They selected Webfleet’s WEBFLEET monitoring system — deployed with LINK 300 tracking devices and Remote LINK Working Time Units via partner Fleetview Solutions — for its ease of use, real‑time tracking and reporting.
Webfleet’s solution was installed in 30 vehicles in April 2012 and delivered a 5% reduction in fuel consumption within six months, largely driven by reduced idling and more moderate driving, putting the system on track to pay for itself within 12 months. The Webfleet tracking also lowered maintenance costs, cut inspector man-hours through remote monitoring, improved tendering and safety for contracts involving children, and secured strong driver buy‑in by enabling individual performance tracking.
