A Webfleet Case Study
Interstate Bus Lines, a Free State public transport operator that runs 253 commuter buses and 32 coaches and transports over 50,000 passengers daily, needed to modernize fleet management after a change in ownership exposed shortcomings in its legacy tracking systems. Faulty devices, no historical data, poor rural mapping and unreliable driver identification put service delivery, safety and government reporting at risk. After an eight-month search the company selected Webfleet’s fleet management and vehicle tracking system to meet those needs.
Webfleet implemented a cloud-accessible solution with hardware, training for Interstate’s workshop team, an open API and integration with the existing fuel-management system. The Webfleet system provides driver card identification that doesn’t rely on battery power and updates locations as frequently as every 20 seconds, enabling better driver accountability, improved driver behaviour, reduced delays, seamless rural mapping and substantial fuel and operational cost savings while allowing Interstate to prove vehicle locations and compliance.
