A Webfleet Case Study
Bristol International Airport, the UK’s fifth largest regional airport, needed to improve utilisation of coaches, car-park shuttles and fire tenders amid rapidly growing passenger numbers while cutting fuel use and emissions. To tackle excessive engine idling and inefficient routes, the airport engaged Webfleet, deploying LINK 300 fleet devices paired with the WEBFLEET web-based fleet management service to monitor vehicle location, routes and idling in real time.
Webfleet fitted LINK 300 units to 21 vehicles, enabling route refinement, reduced overall mileage and identification (and elimination) of excessive idling — cutting fuel consumption, lowering emissions and reducing operating costs. The system produced measurable data used to justify a new walkway investment and helped highlight savings such as avoiding up to £3,000 per year for a single fire tender that idled an hour a day, delivering both environmental and financial benefits.
