Online Tutoring Company Clapingo Increases Click-Through Revenue By 59% With WebEngage

Clapingo is a Delhi-based, on-demand online tutoring startup (founded 2021) that offers personalized one-on-one sessions to help learners improve spoken English. The company faced low trial-to-subscription conversions for its ₹99 trials, high drop-offs across the user journey, a need for synchronized multi-channel engagement (email, push, web push, SMS, WhatsApp), and the challenge of driving revenue outside festive periods—especially from users in Tier 2 and 3 cities.

To address this, Clapingo joined the WebEngage Startup Program and deployed an omnichannel engagement strategy using Journey Designer, funnels, segmentation, cohorts, in-app messages, email, web push and SMS. Targeted welcome journeys and follow-up flows for demo attendees, combined with time-sensitive discounts and user-focused messaging, drove stronger conversions—delivering up to a 59% increase in click-through revenue (59% via in-app, 56.6% via Journey Designer, and 44% via SMS) and higher trial-to-subscription conversion rates.
