CertainTeed LLC, a manufacturing plant for building materials, faced significant communication challenges due to fragmented systems including unreliable radios, PA systems, and problematic cell phone use. This fragmentation caused slow response times to production issues and left lone workers without adequate safety protections. The vendor, Weavix, was selected to address these problems with its Walt smart radio system.

Weavix implemented the Walt solution, providing devices to all 200 hourly workers. The system featured dedicated channels, private messaging, photo/video sharing, and a crucial man-down SOS alert. The results included 15,000 messages per month, faster response times to production upsets, and improved lone worker safety. CertainTeed also successfully integrated the technology by working directly with the union to build trust and ensure a smooth adoption.
