Tidepool, a U.S.-based nonprofit focused on making diabetes data more accessible and actionable, needed a better way to manage a growing Kubernetes environment after migrating from custom EC2- and CloudFormation-based tooling. With Weaveworks’ Flux and GitOps workflow, Tidepool implemented a low-risk self-deployment model with strong auditability and security. The team also built Tidebot to let developers deploy through pull request comments, reducing manual YAML edits and simplifying releases across clusters. As a result, Tidepool streamlined operations, improved stability and reliability, increased deployment frequency, and freed engineers to focus more on innovation.
