WeatherAds helps McDonald's Austria stay front-of-mind with weather activations for Facebook

The in-house agency VIRTUE Austria faced a challenge for its client, McDonald's Austria, of integrating real-time weather signals into its paid social strategy to increase awareness of key products. Weather is a major factor in customer decisions, so the goal was to reach the right audience on Facebook and Instagram during relevant weather moments for ice cream and delivery service promotions.

WeatherAds provided the solution by enabling thermally-activated and rain-triggered campaigns. For the ice cream campaign, ads were served only on very hot days, while the McDelivery campaign was activated during rainy weather. WeatherAds delivered spectacular results, achieving a 52% lower CPM and a 58% lower cost-per-view for the ice cream promotions, with both campaigns receiving an 'above average' quality ranking from Facebook.
