A WealthEngine Case Study
Loyola University Health System, part of the Trinity Health network, needed a more systematic way to convert gratitude into major gifts and to strengthen long‑term fundraising. Historically its board was more operational than philanthropic, and the development team needed timely identification of high‑capacity prospects—especially grateful patients—while those prospects were still onsite.
Loyola implemented a proactive prospect‑research strategy with daily and monthly patient screening, WealthEngine analytics, and integration with its BSR Advance donor management system, plus a board subcommittee and President’s Council to boost engagement. The process of validation, de‑duplication and rapid cultivation produced measurable gains: a 24% increase in number of gifts and a 30% increase in average gift in the first three quarters of 2010 versus 2009, roughly 65% of funds now come from individuals, 40% of dollars ($16.7M in 2009) from patients and friends, and early screening visits have already converted new high‑capacity prospects to major gift officers.
