Stagecoach fills apprenticeship places and boosts applications by 29% with WDAD Communications

WDAD Communications was appointed by Stagecoach London to revitalize the recruitment campaign for its national engineering apprenticeship scheme, which had failed to fill all its vacant positions in the city. The challenge was to communicate the appealing aspects of the opportunity in a far more engaging way to a target audience that might not find buses inherently interesting.

The solution implemented by WDAD Communications was a highly stylised, glossy marketing shot and a dedicated campaign page. This approach positioned the apprenticeship as an opportunity to work with serious, state-of-the-art green technology. All traffic was driven to the new page, which also allowed for tracking of referring sources and included an instant telephone screening. The campaign was highly successful, receiving over 5,500 unique visitors and 232 applications, which led to all initial vacancies being filled and represented a 29% increase in applications from the previous year.
