ICON, a global provider of outsourced development services to the pharmaceutical, biotechnology and medical device industries with 6,800 employees, needed a more efficient way to deliver routine, compliant training around the clock across time zones. Their challenge was to move a significant portion of classroom training online while supporting role-based learning plans, automated recertification, multi-location instructor-led scheduling, 21 CFR Part 11 electronic signatures, integration with Documentum and PeopleSoft, and robust compliance reporting.

ICON selected WBT’s TopClass to provide self-serve learning plans, on-demand eLearning and centralized scheduling with automated recertification and audit-ready tracking. Today about 40% of training is delivered online with roughly 1,000 courses available 24/7, administrative burden and paper use reduced to about 3% of prior levels, and improved consistency, employee ownership of training and real-time compliance visibility across the organization.
