A Wazoku Case Study
Wazoku partnered with the Epilepsy Foundation’s SUDEP Institute to tackle widespread low awareness and stigma around Sudden Unexpected Death in Epilepsy (SUDEP). The open innovation challenge asked for viral, positive advocacy campaigns that would empower people with epilepsy, change risky behaviors, and encourage pursuit of appropriate medical care. The campaign engaged 337 solvers and generated 92 proposed solutions.
The winning entry — a $10,000 proposal from Chad Spencer — recommended using the Foundation’s existing resources to spread simple, positive messages; two additional entrants each received $2,500 for phased, integrated approaches. The program produced promising campaign plans for implementation, engaged hundreds in the issue, and leveraged interdisciplinary perspectives to identify the most valuable, actionable ideas.
