A Wazoku Case Study
PPC is South Africa’s leading cement manufacturer with eight plants across southern Africa. After launching a formal innovation programme in 2013 using email, templates and spreadsheets, idea management was ad-hoc, conversations were dispersed and engagement needed to improve — even though an early pilot returned R8 million ROI from a R200,000 investment. In 2015 PPC partnered with Innocentrix and selected Wazoku’s Idea Spotlight to scale innovation across a diverse, multi-location workforce.
Together they rolled out Idea Spotlight with targeted training, workshops and incentives to build culture, capability, investment mechanisms and a best‑of‑breed idea platform. The launch drove rapid participation (90 ideas in two days) and, overall, the programme generated 556 ideas, 990 registered users and 23 ideas selected for implementation, creating a more democratic, collaborative and measurable innovation process.
