A Wazoku Case Study
Wazoku’s Challenge Driven Innovation (CDI) methodology helps organisations focus problem solving on actionable, scalable solutions — a model the UK Ministry of Defence (MoD) uses across defence and cross‑sector work. Faced with complex needs such as faster high‑altitude imagery for disaster relief, resilient maritime communications and next‑generation autonomous systems, the MoD needed a way to shape problems, find relevant external partners and ensure proposed solutions were feasible and integrable with existing capabilities.
Using Wazoku’s CDI and support from DASA, UKDSC, Innovate UK and DSTL, the MoD broadcasts shaped challenge statements, attracts cross‑sector bidders, co‑funds promising projects and vets proposals for fit and feasibility. The approach uncovered suppliers the MoD hadn’t known (delivering roughly 3–4x the value noted by the Royal Navy), produced multiple viable solutions per challenge, enabled combined syndicate proposals for new capabilities (faster imagery, restored comms, maritime hazard payloads and autonomous‑systems projects) and created routes to market and exportable products.
