A global leader in the perfume and flavour sector headquartered in Geneva with over 6,000 employees and three international R&D centres launched the "Foster Innovation" programme to capture and manage non-product ideas across its business. Despite heavy product-R&D tooling, the company had no idea management system and needed to engage a 300‑person IT organisation across Geneva, New York and Shanghai to drive technology-led innovation in areas like Big Data and analytics.

Early results included 300 participants submitting 70 ideas with six projects advanced; one ERP idea implemented for €10,000 saved €290,000, and a supply‑chain geo‑tracking pilot funded at €200,000 is projected to deliver multi‑million pound savings over five years. The programme has grown into a cross‑company innovation culture: 10 challenges, ~700 users, 300 ideas and 40 prototypes in progress.
