Case Study: Sandvik achieves large-scale employee-driven sustainability innovation with Wazoku's Ideas Hub

A Wazoku Case Study

Preview of the Sandvik Case Study

How Sandvik, a global leader in engineering and materials technology, is driving sustainability with Wazoku

Sandvik, a global engineering and metal‑cutting leader with bold 2030 sustainability targets, wanted to scale its sustainability strategy by tapping the expertise of its workforce. The challenge was to democratize innovation across a large, multilingual organization and collect 100,000 sustainability ideas by 2030 to drive measurable climate, circularity and operational goals.

Partnering with Wazoku, Sandvik launched the Ideas Hub — a social, app‑accessible platform with challenges, gamification and rewards — to capture, refine and commercialize employee ideas. The Hub quickly drove strong engagement (43,000 idea contributors and 78% regular activity), produced immediate wins (local recycling stations, a commercialized tungsten drill‑bit recycling loop), 25 ideas moved to development and numerous pilots exceeded expectations, linking grassroots innovation to tangible business and sustainability outcomes.
