A Wazoku Case Study
Enel is a multinational electricity and gas operator committed to leading the energy transition through sustainability and innovation. Facing complex problems across its renewables, smart‑city and circular‑economy portfolios — from preserving biodiversity at power plants to recycling wind turbine blades and rethinking urban services — Enel needed a way to source diverse, scalable solutions beyond its internal teams.
Partnering with Wazoku’s Open Innovability® platform, Enel ran 50+ open innovation Challenges that engaged a global crowd of solvers and generated thousands of ideas. The program produced tangible outcomes: a biodiversity hotspot pilot at the Pezouliotika PV plant, promising tests to turn turbine blades into insulating materials, and a validated 15‑Minute City Index integrated into Enel X’s YoUrban portal for municipalities — alongside 600+ collaborations and hundreds of validated opportunities for scale.
