Forestry England opens 4.5-mile Wow Trail with The Way Design

The Way Design partnered with Forestry England to create an engaging and accessible new trail experience at Whinlatter Forest in the Lake District. The challenge was to design an immersive 4.5-mile walk that would educate visitors about the forest's history and wildlife, highlight Forestry England's work, and encourage mindfulness, all while balancing information with the natural environment.

Working closely with the Forestry England team, The Way Design implemented a solution featuring sensory discovery points, archway structures to mark the entrance to woodland areas, an interactive wildlife hide, and a custom viewpoint panel to interpret the spectacular landscape. The result is the successful "Wow Trail," which has generated significant positive engagement on social media since its 2023 launch, with visitors actively sharing their experiences online.
