Mahanadi Coalfields Limited (MCL), a major coal producer in India, faced the challenge of securing vehicle access and automating entry and exit points across its numerous mine sites in Odisha. To address this, MCL engaged vendor Wavesight to provide a robust industrial wireless connectivity solution for an advanced RFID boom barrier system.

Wavesight implemented a solution using its Firefly AC500 SA wireless radios to create a seamless point-to-point and point-to-multi-point network. This system connected server rooms to boom barrier control cabins and established a dual-redundant network architecture to ensure maximum uptime. The result for MCL was a secure, scalable, and reliable automated access control system that enhanced operational safety and efficiency across its mining complex.
