Modernizing a Microsoft App Stack

Banko di Seguro Sosial (SVB) of Curaçao is the island’s social security agency responsible for healthcare, pensions and insurance services. Facing legacy Microsoft and Centura systems (including deprecated Silverlight front ends), SVB’s small IT team struggled to keep applications synchronized with changing government policies and diverse stakeholder needs, resulting in inconsistent user experiences and an inability to scale while preserving costly Microsoft SQL Server investments.

SVB adopted WaveMaker low-code (five developer licenses) and, after brief training plus a five-day professional-services fix for SQL Server membership integration, its four‑developer team built a reusable core shell (database, secure APIs, UI) and exposed stored procedures as REST services. The approach delivered uniform UX, rapid third‑party integrations (e.g., FaceX), a two‑day emergency app, and 6+ mission‑critical applications in months — enabling a self‑service, lean team to accelerate go‑to‑market and run monthly releases.
