Case Study: Pertamina achieves rapid migration of 150+ Lotus Notes apps into 20 modern, agile applications in 6 months with WaveMaker

A WaveMaker Case Study

Preview of the Pertamina Case Study

From simple applications to complex portals, to core systems, Pertamina uses WaveMaker low-code to bring maturity into application development with agility

Pertamina, a Jakarta-based energy and petrochemicals giant with about 13,000 employees, faced an urgent IT challenge: over 150 internal workflow applications built on IBM Lotus Notes were at risk when the Notes license was due to expire in six months. The legacy forms were complex with fine-grained role-based controls, and the in-house team lacked the tools and capacity to rapidly redevelop them while transitioning from .NET to an agile, Scrum-based approach.

Working with WaveMaker partner Solecode, Pertamina adopted a low-code + Scrum strategy, rebuilt the database from Lotus Notes extracts, and consolidated 150+ apps into 20 multitenant web and mobile applications. The migration was completed in six months with MVPs delivered every two sprints (one MVP in five days), a Digital Absence app serving 7,000+ users, secure integrations (SSO, third-party services), and an empowered internal IT team of developers and a Scrum master now independently building core systems.
