St Vincent’s Hospital Sydney, through its Stimulant Check-in Clinic (S-Check), sought to support individuals using methamphetamine by helping them track and understand their use. The clinic partnered with vendor Wave Digital to rebuild and enhance their S-Check mobile application, aiming to create a more engaging and intuitive tool for users to monitor their health and access resources.

Wave Digital redesigned the app to minimize information on each screen, creating a simpler, step-by-step user experience. They developed a flexible content hosting framework using Contentful and built a secure, privacy-focused backend to capture anonymous usage data. The solution delivered significant results; an initial trial showed that the intervention group using the app sought professional help at almost double the rate of the control group, with increased app engagement also linked to a decrease in meth use.
