A WaterSmart Case Study
The City of Roseville Water Department in Northern California (population ~126,956) faced a tougher water reality as drought reduced supplies. Residential customers were largely disengaged—bills measured in cubic feet made daily consumption hard to understand—so the utility needed a better way to educate and motivate households to conserve and meet a 20% reduction goal.
Roseville partnered with WaterSmart Software to deliver Home Water Reports, a Customer Portal, and a Utility Analytics Dashboard; 18,000 residents receive reports/portal access and staff can view data for 36,000 meters. The reports translate use into gallons per day, show neighbor comparisons, and offer tailored savings actions; participants reduced usage 4.6% more than non‑participants, staff handle inquiries faster, and the program measurably advances the city’s drought-reduction targets.
