Kainos, a digital services company working with public sector organizations and major brands, wanted to move beyond basic carbon offsetting and partial reporting to build a credible, ambitious climate program. Facing growing pressure from employees, customers, investors, and government contract requirements, the company needed clearer visibility into its emissions—especially Scope 3—and a practical path to net zero. Kainos turned to Watershed and its climate platform to help measure, report, and act on sustainability data.

Watershed helped Kainos measure two years of carbon footprint data, support its submission to the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi), and create a net zero reduction plan in just six months. As a result, Kainos was able to present a full carbon reduction plan within a 60-day government procurement deadline, set a 2025 net zero target, advance office retrofits and renewable electricity sourcing, and pass the first screening phase with SBTi. Watershed’s work gave Kainos one of the strongest corporate climate programs in Europe and positioned it to drive reductions across its supplier base, where its top 10 vendors account for half of emissions.
