A Watershed Case Study

Joanna Rice on making climate a clever marketing strategy

Match Group, the global portfolio of dating and connection brands including Tinder, Hinge, OkCupid, and Match.com, wanted to build a stronger corporate climate program and understand its emissions baseline across 13 subsidiaries. To do that, the company began working with Watershed in 2022, using the Watershed climate platform and Marketplace to measure, report, and act on its sustainability data.

With Watershed, Match Group completed its first audit-grade emissions measurement across all 13 subsidiaries and used the Watershed Marketplace to reach net zero for its scope 1 and 2 emissions in 2022 by purchasing high-quality Energy Attribute Certificates and reforestation credits. The effort removed over 2,000 tonnes of carbon, and Match Group also shared a commitment to setting targets aligned with the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi).
