Case Study: Metalsa achieves context-based water targets with Waterplan

A Waterplan Case Study

Preview of the Metalsa Case Study

Metalsa establishes context-based water targets leveraging advanced technology

Metalsa, a global motor vehicle manufacturer, needed a better way to gather and centralize water data, understand local water risks, and set realistic but ambitious water targets across its operations. Working with Waterplan, Metalsa aimed to strengthen its water stewardship strategy while also making sustainability reporting more efficient.

Waterplan provided a centralized platform and water risk framework to consolidate internal and external water data, assess site-level risks, and support the creation of context-based water targets for 2030 and 2050. The collaboration reduced the time needed to collect and analyze water risk data, improved cross-team alignment, and streamlined reporting, while helping Metalsa target a 30% reduction in water withdrawals by 2030 and pursue water positivity by 2050.
